Ublock origin and ghostery8/1/2023 ![]() So a spot is created for the ad, however, the actual ad and it's content are decided by the advertising provider and not 9Anime. It's not like 9Anime gets to choose the ads that are run, they contact an advertisement provider company (like Bebi or Google Ads) and just say "Hey, I want some cash, lemme give you a spot to advertise on my site". And Trojan is the closest classification it can be given within the standard set.Ī "Trojan" is loosely defined as a code or program that appears to do one thing but may actually contain something else beyond what it first appears to contain.Īs for the so called "Virus Ads", this is a rare occurrence that can happen to any website that runs advertisements in general. ![]() (Think of it like writing in code)īecause Antivirus software can't scan obfuscated code, it will block it to be "safe rather than sorry" with the classification of Trojan only because it "might" contain malicious code. The act of obfuscation is neither a virus nor a Trojan, but instead the act of writing a program so that it's hard to understand what it's doing. ![]() They don't run Trojans, it's more like a miscategorization of obfuscation. Just this one line that causes it, and uBlock Origin already updated their default filters to remove the code (make sure to force a update) and everything started working a-ok again. UBlock Origin has a default filter (uBlock Filters) that contained a scripplet to stop the aforementioned code I mentioned in #2 from functioning. They do this, in order to prevent people from being able to easily just scrape data off the site to copy it. (So, you know, kill stuff that makes popups and etc)ĩAnime has two bits of JavaScript code that runs in the background which is designed to hinder anyone using the element inspector portion of the web browser. UBlock Origin and some other adblockers have a function called "Scripplets" which allows it to inject a bit of code to rewrite JavaScript functions.
